Nancy KNICKERBOCKER (Senior Coordinator)

Nancy Knickerbocker comes to EI from the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation, which represents all 45,000 public school teachers in Canada’s most westerly province. At the BCTF she served as Assistant Director of Communications and Campaigns, with special responsibility for media relations.

She was a journalist who covered general news, immigration, multiculturalism, human rights and education issues as a staff reporter for one of Canada’s largest daily newspapers. As a freelance writer, she contributed to a wide variety of newspapers, magazines, books, and studies.

Nancy is the author of two books of non-fiction: First Generation, a collection of stories about refugees and immigrants in Western Canada; and No Plaster Saint, the biography of Mildred Fahrni, a pioneer peace activist who walked with Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King.
