During its World Congresses, EI formulates policies and resolutions,to apply until they are either reviewed or replaced at subsequent World Congresses where the results of actions to implement the policies are evaluated. Although gender equality is considered as a transversal theme in EI and should be taken into account in all policies and practics, some specific resolutions concerning gender exist. They are: "Child labour" (1995) , "Policy Declaration on Women in Education and Teachers' Organizations" (1995), "Violence against women and girls" (1995), "The Girl Child" (1998), "The feminized nature of the teaching profession" (1998), "Support to Afghan Women" (1998), "Early Childhood education" (1998), "The Societal Alienation of children due to 'KOBORO-NO-ARE' (emotional and mental stress)" (1998), "The Feminized Nature of the Teaching Profession" (1998), "Children of refugees and asylum seekers" (1998), "Children and war" (1998), "The Global March for Women in the Year 2000" (1998), "The Girl Child" (1998), "Trafficking in Women, Girls and Boys" (2001) and "Gender and HIV/Aids" (2004).
