Global Learning Portal
The Global Learning Portal (GLP) aims to contribute to the achievement of the goal of Education for All (EFA) adopted by teachers, prime ministers, academics, policymakers, non-governmental bodies and heads of major international organizations at Dakar, Senegal in April 2000. It aims to do this by enabling all those with an interest and commitment to quality ‘education for all’ to participate in a global online network of education communities.
GLP aims to foster solidarity, collaboration and sharing of experience by providing discussion forums and opportunities for shared project development and the development of learning resources (including for classroom use), and by providing tailor-made information services for individuals and groups. Education International (EI), as an organization which is committed to the provision of high quality publicly-funded and regulated education accessible to all, and, which believes that the achievement of the Dakar Education for All goals may be facilitated by the use of information and communications technology, decided to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with GLP in December 2005.
EI believes that its objectives and programs for teachers and education employees can be enhanced through GLP-supported networks among education communities and through the potential of the GLP to provide broader access to educational materials and support services and enhance quality education.
