EI Training Manual

EI developped a training manual in order to help its affiliates build trade union capacity to achieve pay equity and end gender wage discrimination.
Pay equity training and awareness are crucial for building the capacity of unions and their members, especially women, to fight for pay equity and end wage discrimination.
The EI manual aims to allow trade union activists to:
- Develop their understanding of what pay equity means
- Consider why pay equity is important
- Consider pay equity as a priority in the context of the other pay issues facing unions
- Explore issues about women's pay and how unions can work for pay equity
- Practice advocating for pay equity
The EI training manual is designed to stimulate debate, discussion and awareness about pay equity. It is intended for "beginners"; union members and officials who are unfamiliar with the concept of pay equity.
Course participants will develop their understanding of pay equity. They will begin to relate what they learn to the situation in their own country and will develop the skills to advocate for pay equity.
The intended participants for the pay equity course include:
- National executives
- Union negotiators (elected and paid)
- Bargaining Committees
- Women's Committees
- Delegates and members
