Dr. Antonio Olmedo is Reader in Education at the University of Bristol and Honorary Reader at UCL Institute of Education. His research rests within the fields of education policy analysis and sociology of education, with a specific focus on the role of the private sector in education; neoliberal policies and the creation of quasi-markets; and global networks, international organisations, policy advocacy, philanthropy and edu-businesses. He is currently working on a new research project based on new landscapes of competition: academies and local education markets in England. His latest book, together with Dr. Andrew Wilkins, is entitled: Education Governance and Social Theory
