Georgina Mataroa is currently teaching on her home island of Rarotonga which is the main island out of 15 beautiful islands that make up the Cook Islands. Her teaching journey started all the way in Brisbane, Australia where she worked in a childcare center which motivated her to want to pursue a career in teaching. Fast forward to today after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Auckland, New Zealand; she knew she wanted to return to island paradise to teach the children and to give back to the people that contributed to her upbringing. She is also blessed with a beautiful girl who also happens to attend the school she is working at. Georgina’s daughter inspires her every day to learn more about her Cook Islands culture and be fascinated with treasures she finds in her culture such as relearning her Maori language so she can help her daughter speak to finding love for her cultural dance again because her daughter also finds love and appreciation for Cook Islands dancing.
