Alan Hackett began teaching in 1986 as an English specialist, later becoming Head of Department for Media, Art, Music, and Performing Arts. His career includes roles in Further and Higher Education, and as an Assistant Head Teacher for Community and Family Learning.
Diagnosed with spinal stenosis and kidney cancer in 2020, Alan resumed teaching in 2022, using a wheelchair.
A NASUWT member since 2001 and National Executive Member since 2012, Alan is an active caseworker and national trainer, committed to promoting health, safety, and equalities within the union.
