Sonia Grigt

Sonia Grigt works as a consultant in Rome (Italy). She supports the development of Education International’s work in favor of migrants’ and refugees’ rights through research, capacity building and advocacy activities. She is the author of the EI report “The Journey of Hope: education for refugee and unaccompanied children in Italy” (2017) and she manages the portal Education4refugees.org (Twitter: @ed4refugees) which is the EI reference portal in the field of international migration, pulling together resources and unions’ best practices from around the world.

She also coordinates “Worlds of Education”, the EI activist portal gathering reflections, publications and material on education reforms and trends worldwide.

Sonia holds a PhD in Comparative Education (University of Tor Vergata, Rome, Italy) and a Master degree in international relations (University Paris 1 – Panthéon Sorbonne). Her research interests include international migration and forced displacement, refugee and migrant education, global and regional education policies (EU), international academic mobility patterns and globalisation/internationalisation of higher education and research. Sonia used to work in the Education and Employment unit at EI Headquarters in Brussels. Prior to joining EI, she worked for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Commission, developing international cooperation in the field of higher education and research. She speaks fluently French, English, Spanish and Italian.
