New appointments at EI
There are several new appointments at EI since May this year.
Jan Eastman, former teacher, staff member and elected official of the British Columbia Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) and the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF) has taken up the appointment of Deputy General Secretary. She was President of the CTF from 1997 until 1999, and a member of the EI Executive Board from 1998 until 2001. During this period she was also the Chairperson of the Status of Women Committee. Jan oversees EI's work related to Human and Trade Union Rights, Equality and EI's Assistance Programmes.
Another new staff member is Dennis Sinyolo, EI's new Education Co-ordinator. Dennis was formerly General Secretary of the Zimbabwe Teachers' Association (ZIMTA). In his new position, Dennis works on EI's policies, programmes and activities related to early childhood, primary and secondary education, as well as Education For All (EFA).
Nancy Knickerbocker, former Communications Officer of the British Columbia Teachers' Federation (BCTF) in Canada, has taken over the position of Publicity and Publications Co-ordinator from Dominique Marlet. Dominique Marlet is now working as Human and Trade Union Rights and Equality Co-ordinator. Nancy is now head of the unit in charge of EI's external communications, press relations and print publications.
