Accelerating the Education Sector Response to HIV and AIDS
From 5-9 March 2007, a workshop on "Strengthening the Education Sector Response to School Health, Nutrition and HIV/AIDS Programmes" took place in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Hosted by the Cambodian Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the workshop brought together 113 participants from civil society organisations and development agencies in five of the six countries (all but Myanmar), plus an observer team from Bhutan. The Workshop provided an excellent opportunity for participants to share examples of good practice. Additionally, all country teams and development partners acknowledged the need to harmonise school health, nutrition and HIV&AIDS prevention activities and to better align assistance. The overall aim is to develop strategies to integrate sustainably and scale up school health and nutrition programs, with a particular emphasis on strong HIV prevention activities.
