Students and staff train to disseminate student centered learning practices
Nearly 40 staff and student union members have gathered in Bratislava, Slovakia, to undertake an intensive three-day training programme on advocacy and lobbying skills for the promotion of student centered learning.
The training was organised by EI and the European Students’ Union (ESU) as a part of the Time for Student Centered Learning (T4SCL) project and ran from 15 to 17 September. The training facilitators were themselves trained as trainers in Malta in an earlier phase of the initiative.
The purpose of this latest round of training was to equip participants with the basic skills and knowledge to further promote student centered learning, and to assure that the knowledge and skills acquire through the project will be further disseminated and replicated. Through the training sessions, participants practiced presentation and debating skills in real life lobbying situations, and provided participants with ideas for further development of their own organisation’s strategies to promote the concept of student centered learning.
The T4SCL project is now in its final phase. EI and ESU are currently organising the final event, a Stakeholders’ Forum, which will be held from 15 to 17 October in Leuven, Belgium. This event will gather approximately 100 stakeholders from higher education, along with EI and ESU members for reflections about learning and outcomes. The Forum will also be a launch event for the Toolkit on student centered learning.
