Closing Conference on Healthy and Safe Workplaces in the Crisis
The closing conference of the ETUCE Project “Teacher Trade Unions in Solidarity for Healthy and Safe Workplaces in the Economic Crisis” will be held in Madrid on October 10-11. Representatives from national teacher unions, researchers, representatives of the education employers and students’ unions will gather to discuss how to promote healthy and safe working conditions in education in times of crisis.
The conference is the final activity of an on-going ETUCE project which is carried out with financial support of the European Commission. In this project, ETUCE analysed in an online survey and interviews with trade union representatives how the economic crisis affects teachers’ health and safety. In addition, trade union strategies against budget cuts and good practices to increase the well-being and safety of teachers were exchanged in two peer learning activities.
At the conference in Madrid, experts on workers’ health and safety will present the findings from the project activities and share their expertise with the audience. The participants will have the opportunity to discuss, amend and comment the draft Policy Recommendations for teacher unions in Europe. The participants will be invited to exchange ideas for the practical implementation of these policy recommendations.
