Canada: CAUT appoints new Executive Director
EI has warmly welcomed the appointment of David Robinson as Executive Director of its affiliate, the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT). Robinson’s appointment will become effective on 1 July.
Robinson is currently CAUT Associate Executive Director, responsible for the Association’s research, communications and advocacy work, and international relations.
Prior to joining CAUT, he was the senior economist with the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA). He has also been a lecturer at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, and Carleton University in Ottawa. He is the author of a number of articles, reviews, and reports on higher education and research policy, vocational education and training, and international trade and investment agreements.
Currently, Robinson also serves as the senior advisor on higher education, copyright, and international trade issues to EI; he is also a CCPA board member and president of OpenMedia.ca.
“We wish David all the best as he takes up his new position,” said EI General Secretary Fred van Leeuwen. “We are sure that his new position will give David many opportunities to continue the important work he has been undertaking for many years in defence of academic staff and quality public post-secondary education in Canada.”
