Resolutions Committee meets ahead of the EI 7th World Congress
The Resolutions Committee met on 16th and 17th June in Brussels to prepare and organise the 54 resolutions and 96 amendments it received from the Executive Board and member organisations for the Seventh EI World Congress.
The resolutions and amendments have been incorporated in a single book which will be published on the Congress website later this week and issued to delegates to Congress in Ottawa. The Committee also set out the resolutions and policy papers in an order of business for Congress.
The Resolutions Committee was established by the Executive Board at its meeting in March, 2015. It consists of members selected by each region and is chaired by an EI Vice president. They are: Chair Patrick Roach, Vice-President, Africa: Ezekiah Oluoch (TTU/Tanzania), Asia-Pacific: Graham Moloney (AEU/Australia), Europe: Christine Blower (NUT/United Kingdom), Latin America: Yamile Socolovsky (CONADU/Argentina) and North America: Vernelle De Lagarde (AFT/United States).
The specific role of the Resolutions Committee is to 1) consider all resolutions and amendments to resolutions submitted to the Congress; 2) prepare and present to the Congress, if necessary, recommendations regarding these resolutions and amendments, including the order of debate; 3) prepare, if necessary, and present composite texts to the Congress; and 4) present recommendations regarding whether or not proposed urgent resolutions meet the specified criteria of urgency for such resolutions and for the content of such resolutions.
