BRIEFING NEW EXECUTIVE COMMITTEES OF MEMBER ORGANISATIONS
Fatima Silva, Regional Committee Vice-President of the Latin American Committee, and Combertty Rodriguez represented EI at meetings with newly elected executive committees:
From 26-28 May:
The Asociación Dominicana de Profesores, the Asociación Nacional de Profesionales y Técnicos de la Educación and the Federación de Asociaciones de Profesores de la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. At the meeting held in the Dominican Republic, EI’s representatives outlined the EI Global Response to the privatisation and commercialisation in and of education, as well as EI policies in general.
From 30-31 May:
The Sindicato Unitario de Trabajadores en la Educación del Peru(SUTEP). At the meeting held in Peru, EI’s representatives promoted the EI Global Response to the privatisation and commercialisation in and of education. Education in Peru was also analysed. In addition, participants evaluated improvements in SUTEP.
From 1-2 June:
The Confederación de Trabajadores de Educación Urbana de Bolivia and the Confederación Nacional de Maestros de Educación Rural de Bolivia. The EI representatives outlined the EI Global Response to the privatisation and commercialisation in and of education, and explained EI policies in general at the meeting in Bolivia. The importance of the Latin American pedagogical movement and the women’s network were also highlighted. This visit also included a meeting with Bolivia’s Education Minister where the state of education in Bolivia was analysed.
