EI defends migrant and refugee rights at the UN
Education International (EI) joined other Global Unions and civil society organisations to defend and promote the rights of refugee and migrant teachers, children, and youth at the United Nations (UN) on 18 July. The informal hearings at the UN headquarters in New York, USA, were designed to consult civil society before the September UN High-level Meeting on the large movements of refugees and migrants. EI urged UN member states to ratify and implement relevant UN and ILO migrant and refugee conventions, advocate for the rights of refugees and migrants, and to promote decent work, social protection, access to quality public services and education.
