GUFs and SSOs annual coordination meeting in Singapore
On 16 January, the GUFs and Solidarity Support Organisations (SSOs) held their annual coordination meeting in Singapore. Attendees identified the regional human and trade union rights issues influencing field level operations, acknowledged immediate country issues leading to joint activities and shared regional-level thematic campaigns and possible collaboration opportunities. They also explored overarching issues in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly pertaining to human and trade union rights as well as trade development and agreements, like the Trans-Pacific Partnership.
The Country-level Coordination Report concentrated on the countries where the GUFs and SSOs are leading programmes, i.e. Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam and Bangladesh.

UNESCO International Symposium on School Violence and Bullying in South Korea
Education unions attended the International Symposium on School Violence and Bullying: From evidence to action, organised by UNESCO in Seoul, from 17-19 January. Participants contributed to discussions on the roles and abilities of teachers to combat school violence, bullying, and
cyberbullying. Indeed, data compiled from 19 low- and middle-income countries found that 34 per cent of students aged 11–13 reported being bullied in the previous month, with eight per cent reporting daily bullying. The figures were contained in a new Global Status Report on School Violence and Bullying, produced by UNESCO and the Institute of School Violence Prevention at Ewha Womans University, Seoul, and launched at the symposium.Presentations and handouts, as well as films shown during the symposium are available here
