This project includes 3 days of training in negotiations skills, procedures and strategies. Some topics covered during this activity include: collective bargaining (CB) (what and why; factors to consider in CB; legal frameworks supporting CB; etc.); the economy of Sierra Leone; building the components of a collective agreement; and how to achieve a Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement (BATNA). The project provides for 30 participants.

Following the training, the SLTU leaders and negotiators will be better able to: - Engage with the MEST in order to advocate for the needs of teachers; - Negotiate with the MEST in order to lobby for improved working conditions for teachers; - Demonstrate that the SLTU is an important and effective agent for positive change, both in education and in society in general.
