United Nations Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel on the Teaching Profession: Recommendations and summary of deliberations
The High-Level Panel on the Teaching Profession was convened by the United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres in response to the growing and alarming global teacher shortage.
The Panel brought together a diverse group of experts and stakeholders including ministers of education, former presidents, academics, representatives from civil society, and most importantly, teachers and students and their unions. Education International was represented on the Panel by EI President Susan Hopgood.
This document presents the Recommendations of the Panel and a summary of its deliberations, which drew on the Panel members’ personal expertise, relevant literature and the preparatory work of the Transforming Education Summit, in particular action track 3 on teachers, teaching and the teaching profession.
