After a week of intense debate and exchange among the 1,200 participants of the 10th World Congress of Education International, the new Executive Board held its first session in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The new EI President, Mugwena Maluleke, of SADTU (South Africa), welcomed the new members of the Board, observing that this was the Board with the most female members in EI history.

"I have a lot of confidence in the work we will do together, in the campaigns we will promote, and I know we will learn a lot from each other. Our mandate is clear," said the President.

In addition, EI General Secretary David Edwards thanked the new members for the smooth running of the Congress and offered them support for the transition to their new roles.
