Descripción

According to the ILO statistics over 215 million children aged 5–17 years are engaged in child labour around the world, and it is estimated that more than 100 million of them are in the Asia- Pacific region. In order to promote countermeasures for childlabour eradication, in cooperation with the Nepal Trade Union Congress-Independent (NTUC-I), the national centers in India and Nepal, JILAF operates non-formal schools in these countries that provide children engaged in child labour with the opportunity to receive basic education and promotes their transfer to public schools. The number of graduates of these schools is 7,400 children in Nepal and 451 children in India, and the transfer ratio to public schools is 85% and 84%, respectively.

Objetivos

In order to eradicate child labor, we operate informal schools so called "bridge schools" for the children in poverty, who cannot have even the access to education, providing them with a basic education and helping them acquire the necessary academic skills before transferring to public schools.
