Pays de mise en œuvre
Ouganda

Description

UNATU is part of a group of African unions that wants to improve the membership information management. The project supports building the system MemberIS (MIS) that has been originally conceived for TUICO from Tanzania. Implementation there plus some pilots elsewhere have proved how much it simplifies management, contributes to membership growth and financial sustainability. It helped unions to get a grip on the check-off systems and to introduce a centralized membership fee collection. UNATU is being supported by the NGO MemberIS. The project activities include, apart from building the system, also training for those who will be responsible for the use of the system, including in the regions. If necessary, futher training will be added.

Objectifs

The main objective of this project is to digitize daily activities of UNATU in a manner that will guarantee efficiency, ease of communication within the union, keep track of members’ records electronically and help the Union to prepare and communicate seamlessly with its members.

Résultats

UNATU has improved its operational efficiency and adds value to existing services, engender innovation and new e-services development while making heads of departments, sectors and the leadership make better and informed decisions.

UNATU can easily identify its strengths and weaknesses due to the presence of membership, dues collection, grievance and training reports from the MIS. Identifying these items in time aid the union in improving their union services.

The MIS gives a union an overall picture of the union membership, dues and other activities while acting as a communication and planning tool for activities within and external of the union.

Implementation of an MIS can help the union cut cost on stationery, communication and help the union gain competitive advantage. The reports made readily available by the MIS can as well reduce downtime for actionable items.
