Description
NTUSS is determined to ensure that every learner in the Republic of South Sudan, no matter where they live, is tought by a qualified and motivated teacher. NTUSS is therefore mobilizing stakeholders at all levels to hold government/intergovernmental organizations to account for the adequate funding of education and demand the necessary settings to attract/retain the teachers needed for an effective education system in South Sudan, through increasing and effectively paying teachers' salaries, reducing their workload and ensuring job security to teachers and ESP.
The topics to be addressed include:
- expansion of public advocacy for adequate funding of public education;
- state level socialization of the UN GS's HLP recommendations;
- socialization of the HLP recommendations with ministry of education, CSO and stakeholders (including ILO, UNESCO and UNICEF);
- mobilization of union membership all all levels; and
- community awareness on the education funding and teacher shortage issues.
Objectifs
The activities proposed seek to help achieve the following goals:
- mobilization of membership to grow the union
- raised the standards/status of teachers
- gender equality and equity
- formation of strong netorks at all levels from country to national through state and districts

2024:
- membership orientation
- stakeholders' meetings
- consultation meetings with ministries, MPs and CSO
- radio talk show, newspapers and posters
- state and counties mobilization
- meeting with state political leadership
- NTUSS empowerment of state union structures
2025:
- completion of NTUSS structures for the remaining states
- membership recruitment
- teachers' cooperative society
- capacity building for state union members
