Notice of vacancy: Regional Coordinator, Asia-Pacific

Education International invites applications for the full-time post of Regional Coordinator, based in EI Asia-Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok, Thailand.

Based in EI Asia-Pacific Regional Office in Bangkok, the Regional Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Regional Director and will be responsible of promoting and implementing EIAP's strategic directions and programmes in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Work, in collaboration with other EI staff at regional and head office level, in advocating and implementing EI’s policies and working programmes;
  • Support remotely and/or to undertake missions to, and consultations with, EI’s member organisations in the region and regional governing and non-governing bodies;
  • Monitor policies, best practices and information relating to the education sector, teachers’ rights and professional development, development, solidarity among others;
  • Contribute to building the capacity of EIAP’s staff members in various thematic areas, supervise and provide guidance to project staff;
  • Ensure visibility of EIAP’s work, including writing, reviewing, editing, updating and maintaining content for EIAP’s website, blog, campaign, social media and other digital properties;
  • Develop, implement and maintain a communications strategy including media/social media plans to assist in promoting the objectives and highlighting the achievements of the organisation and its work;
  • Develop and implement campaign strategies and communication plans;
  • Scan regularly media and new and emerging research information on existing or newly launched activities/developments across the region examining potential campaign/media opportunities;
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of EI Regional Committee and Regional Conference meetings and of other regional meetings among others;
  • Acquire and maintain relevant professional knowledge and skills by participating in appropriate training and other activities as required;
  • Perform such other appropriate tasks as assigned;
  • Undertake travels as required.

Recruitment Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree or equivalent academic qualifications in political or social science, in the education field and/or in international development and trade union movement is preferable.

Experience

  • At least 3 – 5 years of experience in the education, communications or related fields;
  • Experience in working in a non-profit or trade union movement;
  • Experience in liaising and communicating with authorities, national and international institutions.

Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Experience in using multimedia, content management system and use of social media platforms;
  • Able to work with strict deadlines while exhibiting strong initiatives and quality content;
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.

Language requirements

  • Proficiency in English;
  • Proficiency in at least one of the languages spoken in the region.

Working hours

  • Full-time position.
  • Normal office hours apply from Monday to Friday, though some flexibility is desirable in recognition of the international nature of the organization. Work that falls outside normal hours during the week, and at the weekend may be expected. There may be a requirement to travel to attend meetings and functions.

All EI staff are accountable to the General Secretary, either directly or through designated staff members. If the needs of the organisation so require, staff members may be requested to perform appropriate duties related to another position, either on a temporary or permanent basis, provided that these duties correspond to the level of their position and that their professional experience and training is adequate. Position descriptions are not definite and may be adapted.
