Putting teachers at the heart of education systems the focus in Rotterdam
The message on day one of the Unite for Quality Education and Leadership Conference was clear, with educators looking at making sure that teachers themselves are the architects of the profession and of education systems.
Enlightening talks, discussions and workshops marked the first day of Education International (EI)'s three-day event aimed at educators once again leading their profession.
“We’re asking core questions about who we are, what will become of us, and who will decide on it,” said EI Deputy General Secretary David Edwards in Rotterdam. “And we have tried to answer those.”
Andrew Hargreaves and Dennis Shirley of Boston College, along with Mary Metcalfe of Wits University in South Africa framed the day with their unique insights of the teaching profession.
